Clean: White Man's Burden

The soap bars stamped with the brand ‘Imperial Beauty’ were installed to spell out the word ‘CLEAN’ in perfect pink on pristine white tiles, The work made reference to the interconnected ideas of cleanliness and imperial values; ideas were later expanded on in Anne McClintock’s “Soft-Soaping Empire”.
