Woodford Folk Festival, 2012
The site-specific nature of this installation in 2012 followed a year that completely wiped out the Woodford Festival grounds with devastating floods. As a response to this, the work took the practical form of an actual bar in the festival; one lavishly decorated by repurposed detritus and junk. An enormous chandelier made of bits and pieces of refuse that included sawn-off plastic champagne glasses and dog toys was suspended from the centre of the tent, surrounded with a fence like a lavish exotic cage dancer. The bar lounge-chairs were covered in tailored, paint-spattered dust sheets; sculptural pedestals were constructed from discarded toy and car parts covered in glossy black.
