Like a relic from an only partially understood past, this installation reminds us of how rapidly cutting-edge music technology can be discarded into the realm of curios. As has happened before, here the mysterious avatar Madame Illuminata has scavenged flotsam and jetsam together to construct a makeshift orchestra for an improbable future. In this construction gramophone horns are re-connected by a turntable and a wheelchair wheel and set in motion by a wish, a prayer and a barely functioning engine. This work is part of an ongoing series that utilises recycling together with a crazy historical revisionism to produce works that fall into those cracks between art, music and technology and lie there playing their last songs.
