The Gym That Got Away

SWELL Sculpture Festival, Currumbin, QLD, 2016

Reconstructed from abandoned gym equipment and anemometers, this sculpture was a site-specific reference to the nearby gym housed in the SLSC above the rocky headland at Currumbin Beach. The work continued the artist’s ongoing explorations of the intersections of work, leisure and art in a playful way. The kinetic work moved with the wind to trace patterns in the surrounding sand.
