People Do Have the Right to be Bigots You Know

The installation responded to the statement made by the attorney general, George Brandis: “people have the right to be bigots” as he confirmed plans to remove sections of the Racial Discrimination Act. Using machine-routed statements on white pine next to other hand-carved plaques made from Indonesian hardwood, the installation featured quotes by Australian holiday-makers in Bali next to those of politicians debating the extent to which the Racial Discrimination Act reflected Australia’s best ethical decisions.
